In our youth, we Boomers would sit in a dirt field to hear our music performed live. Now, thanks to aging knees and improved financial status, we are more likely to seek out a venue where we can valet our car, have a cocktail, nice dinner, and sit close to the stage without (further) damaging our ears. THAT VENUE DOESN’T PLAY ROCK ‘N ROLL. More often than not, it plays Jazz or Standards. Boomers are reintroduced to this music and seek it out on the radio. Absent from the airwaves, Boomers are finding this music in music stores:

Boomers are purchasing “Standards” CDs at a record clip. Frank Sinatra is selling better than at any time since the 60’s. Tony Bennett Duets-An American Classic was his highest charting album. EVER. Then there’s Michael Buble, selling out major venues across the U.S. and around the world. Who’s buying the CDs, the concert tickets, buying martinis at the clubs featuring this music? Boomers and YOUNGER!
